...My beliefs shadow my morals. My morals guide my life. And as I grow I will remain humble...
My name is Sophia Rose Mele, I am 19 years old and this is my second year here at Delaware County Community College. I graduated high school from Haverford High School in 2016. I'm a very personable, empathetic person who only wants good for others and in some way make a difference in this world. Not quite sure what that is yet, but I know it'll be good. I love my family and friends and want to be with them as much as I can, but I do love my alone time. I've grown to understand that I don't need a huge group of people to lean on but to care for those who always stick around when I'm at my lowest point. My family are my biggest fans, we all love, laugh and cry together. We're a very emotional bunch, well the women are. I have only one older brother who graduated from West Chester University with his bachelors in Business this past year.
When we moved here from an area in Montgomery County I was just beginning my high school career. I decided that I had to make the best out of it so I joined a couple clubs and stuck to my love of soccer. After attending Haverford for a while I realized they didn't have one big spirit night considering the whole "H- Pride" claim. So a friend and I decided to take matters into our own hands and create a night that does just that. After the approval by the principal, we ran with it. Gathered sponsors, generals and captains to help split the responsibility and with a little passion, Red and Gold night was created and official annual event. I have to give a shout out to Megan Nestler for being part of this journey with me and helping in every way she could.
On the other hand, Haverford has one of the most elite chorus groups in the state, my goal was to be a part of it. Chorus made me realize how music is such a huge part of me. From there on I have been pursuing my music career by seeing my vocal coach as much as possible and to just keep singing. I am absolutely speechless when I hear beautiful vocals and music, my body just goes into a trans. As inspiring as it is, it makes me believe that the world owes me nothing and I have to be the change I want to see. In all honesty, moving was the best thing that could've ever happened to me. I made friends that could never be replaced and grew into the woman I am today.
